In this guide, which follows the liturgical calendar week-by-week, I’ve paired biblically-themed paintings by the masters with their corresponding Bible verses to better understand biblical artwork through a biblical lens and vice versa, just as one might read Greek mythology to better understand mythological paintings. No religious affiliation needed and no commentary from me; just the paintings and their verses. This can be as secular or as faith-based as you’d like to make it for yourself.

Hi! I’m Clare, a painter working in watercolor and oil and I also accept commissions for custom paintings.

I live and work in NYC and travel often, usually to my home state of Virginia or to Europe. And when all else fails, I take a visit to the Met for a little escape! Art history shapes much of what I make, and I’m always aiming to continue my education.
