Summertime is my constant aim throughout the year, the sound of cicadas and bright blue crashing waves somehow always in the back of my mind. Why? Because summertime is when I pack my paints and leave the hustle-bustle of (beautiful! exciting! wild!) New York City behind in lieu of beautiful, exciting, calm southern France to paint, paint, paint without the distractions of everyday city life. What a dream!

This summer, I spent six weeks as an artist-in-residence with the wonderful Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, painting en plein air (outside in nature, “on the motif,” as they say) each day. I painted the water and cliffs all along the coast of the Mediterranean, as well as ancient aqueducts and lavender and views in the town of Aix-en-Provence, too… true meditative experiences, and I am so grateful to see the world a bit differently after this summer spent immersed in making artwork. I think you’ll understand what I mean when you see the paintings made; scroll down to do just that.

Paintings will be available to purchase here at 10am on Wed, Sept 3, so take a look through this preview, pick your favorites, and set an alarm for 10am on Wed, Sept 3 to make sure you claim the piece(s) you’d like to add to your collection!

The opening night will be Wed, Sept 10 in NYC’s Greenwich Village, with the series showing in the gallery from Sept 11 to 16. Many events happening that week; see the full agenda and sign up here.

Merci mille fois (thanks a million) !!!
