Bonjour!!! I will again be heading to the south of France to paint this summer—do follow along on my instagram, @lucyclarespooner.artist, to see the behind-the-scenes of painting en plein air in the countryside of Provence and by the Mediterranean! This time painting abroad is incredibly nourishing for body, mind, soul, and, perhaps most of all, my creative practice.

This also means that my custom work will have a different lead time.
- Custom work ordered before May 25 (reference photos received, all logistics sorted, etc) will be shipped by June 10.
- Custom work ordered after May 25 will be shipped upon my return in late August (exact shipping date depending on order date).
- Virtual “placeholders” can be sent in the interim at no cost.

I often paint my own self-portrait, a fascinating exercise. I know my own face better than any other, and yet each painting is different: they’re all me, each in their own way. I’m combining this idea with memories of drinking wine and painting friends while in art school in France in my mid-20s; we would often exchange the paintings of each other. As I look for ways to expand and push my practice, I thought I’d extend this idea to *you* and am offering The Selfie.

Do not confuse this option with the rest of my commissioned work: it is entirely different. This is as if we are sitting across from each other, and I’m painting you and capturing the feeling of the moment. If you’re looking for a painting that captures the subject more closely, I suggest my other custom options.

Here’s how The Selfie works:

1. Send me a photo of you or someone else. A selfie is fine or just the face, however that comes about.

2. I’ll make a watercolor painting on 9x12 paper. This painting may or may not look much like the photo you’ve sent.

3. I’ll mail the painting to you!
