SPRING RELEASE from "Virginia Wildlife": HACKBERRY EMPEROR BUTTERFLY

$200.00

This ink drawing is from a series made for “Virginia Wildlife,” a solo show at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington, VA. You may know that I turn to the wildlife of my home state of Virginia for much of my inspiration, and the impetus for this show was no different. This time, though, I chose two subjects I hadn’t yet explored: butterflies & moths and freshwater fish, all local to Virginia. I made the drawings in sumi ink, a lovely black calligraphy ink, on watercolor paper and then painted a colorful border around the drawing in the same colors as are found in the butterfly, moth, or fish in the drawing. The connection between butterflies, moths, and fish, you ask? Not much of one… except that they’re all wonderfully colorful, found in Virginia’s natural world, and I hadn’t yet explored them in my studio!

This original drawing with watercolor border comes framed in a clip frame (9”x12”). USPS First-Class shipping is included.

All sales are final.

Thank you!!
Clare
