SUMMER IN LE SUD: Cassis from the hidden beach, July 19
SUMMER IN LE SUD: Cassis from the hidden beach, July 19
After a picnic dinner with friends, I sat and painted on this rocky beach as the sun set behind me and cast the most beautiful light onto the town of Cassis in the distance. It was a cloudy day and the sky wasn’t its typical blue-blue-blue, which made for an interesting combination of blue- and purpley-grays in the sky with the yellows and oranges of the rocks.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 14”x22”; overall size framed is approx 15”x23”. This is a diptych of two 11”x14” canvases framed together as one; they were painted together as if one canvas and are meant to stay together, not separated. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.
