SUMMER IN LE SUD: Cap Canaille from la Plage Corton, Cassis, July 16, no. 1

$1,850.00

I began going to this beach in Cassis more often over the course of the summer, and this was the start of painting quite large. I didn’t have as big of canvases as I wanted—for several reasons, one of which being I needed to keep the canvases down to a certain size to fit in my suitcase for transport (logistics!)—so I put two together and acted as if they were one. This piece was painted during the day, in plein soleil (full sunlight), and I jumped in the water many times to cool off while painting. Hot hot hot!

This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.

Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 20”x32”; overall size framed is approx 21”x33”. This is a diptych of two 16”x20” canvases framed together as one; they were painted together as if one canvas and are meant to stay together, not separated. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.

Free local delivery for addresses around NYC and near Charlottesville, Richmond, and Williamsburg, VA; this is automatically done at checkout. Otherwise, a $100 shipping and handling fee will be applied at checkout.

Merci for choosing to have a piece of my summertime on your walls!
