SUMMER IN LE SUD: View from the hidden beach looking toward town, Cassis, July 26, no. 3

$1,850.00

This particular morning was the last day in Aix for a dear friend, so a few friends went to the beach as one last hurrah: five painters together, all painting the sea. I made a few watercolors and then two oils; this is the second of the oils, looking toward town, the same view as the other oil but much larger.

This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.

Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 20”x32”; overall size framed is approx 21”x33”. This is a diptych of two 16”x20” canvases framed together as one; they were painted together as if one canvas and are meant to stay together, not separated. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.
