There’s a little hidden beach in the beautiful town of Cassis, along the Mediterranean. It’s a favorite afternoon motif for me, one that I painted many times over the course of the summer. Back in my studio in NYC, I made this large piece—the largest I’ve made yet—using paintings I had made while painting en plein air and relying on my memory of the place, too.
