SUMMER IN LE SUD: View toward town from the hidden beach, Cassis, July 26, no. 2
This particular morning was the last day in Aix for a dear friend, so a few friends went to the beach as one last hurrah: five painters together, all painting the sea. I made a few watercolors and then two oils; this is the first of the oils, looking toward town.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 11”x14”; overall size framed is approx 12”x15”. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.
