SUMMER IN LE SUD: La Presqu'île looking east, Cassis, July 18

$1,050.00

My morning motif in Cassis looked out onto this big rock jutting over the blue blue blue water, casting shadows and making the most beautiful colors with the water depth differences and shadows creating reflections. The slight orange hue of the rock paired with the blue of the water made for an especially lovely complementary colors moment, too. I sat and painted in the shade and then jumped in the very scene I’d just been painting from. Heaven!

This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.

Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 16x”x20”; overall size framed is approx 17”x21”. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.
