SUMMER IN LE SUD: Port Miou on la Presqu'île, Cassis, July 23
SUMMER IN LE SUD: Port Miou on la Presqu'île, Cassis, July 23
A friend had an opening of her paintings in Aix on this day and I couldn’t stay long at the beach, nor could I paint at my normal time (important for the light), so I took the opportunity to paint from this shady spot under the pines looking out onto this gorgeous port, close to where I usually paint in the mornings. I had first seen the port the year before but didn’t take the chance until this day, and I’m so glad I did, with the blue water and the trees framing the busy boats down below.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original oil painting on canvas. Painting size 16x”x20”; overall size framed is approx 17”x21”. This painting comes framed in a natural oak floating frame and is ready to hang.
