SUMMER IN LE SUD: The beach at Cary-le-Rouet, June 27
I’d often heard of this beach in Cary-le-Rouet, a gorgeous seaside town (mostly for rather fabulous retirees, or so it seemed to me) along the coast of la Côte Bleue to the west of Marseille, so one morning I set out to see it for myself. It was a meandering hike to get to the beach and, to my dismay, I realized that the beach was an evening motif, not a morning one, because of how the sun was hitting. Ah!!! I made this watercolor in plein soleil (full sun) before packing up and heading to another beach that I knew for certain would be a good one for the morning. Some days are like that! And I still was able to make this painting, so all was not lost.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original watercolor on paper with straight edges; unframed size 11”x14”.
If you’d like to have this framed, please select that option from the drop-down menu and check out. I’ll then email you with mock-ups of the painting in a few frame options that I recommend. Framed size approx 15x19 inches; please allow an additional three weeks for framing.
USPS First-Class shipping is free for the continental USA.
Merci for choosing to have a piece of my summertime on your walls!
