SUMMER IN LE SUD: Bathers in Niolon, July 3
SUMMER IN LE SUD: Bathers in Niolon, July 3
In Niolon, the bathers are often just as interesting to watch as the perfectly blue water itself. On this particular day in early July, I turned my attention away from the sea to focus on the bathers and made this watercolor from my favorite shady spot off to the side. Made en plein air, from life as everyone moved around, it is an exhilarating way to make a painting… and incidentally how I make all of my paintings while in the south of France and often elsewhere too.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original watercolor on paper with straight edges; unframed size 11”x14”.
If you’d like to have this framed, please select that option from the drop-down menu and check out. I’ll then email you with mock-ups of the painting in a few frame options that I recommend. Framed size approx 15x19 inches; please allow an additional three weeks for framing.
USPS First-Class shipping is free for the continental USA.
Merci for choosing to have a piece of my summertime on your walls!
