SUMMER IN LE SUD: Bathers in Cassis, July 6, no. 1
This was a Sunday morning when a dear friend and I hopped over to Cassis from Aix to jump in the water on her day off. Cassis is about 35 minutes from Aix and just about the most breath-taking water you’ve ever seen. The beach was a busy one on a Sunday, of course, though not as crowded as the beaches closer to town, and I love painting the bathers when it’s busy like that. We sunbathed and picnicked and I made two paintings that day, this being one of them.
This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.
Original watercolor on paper. This painting comes professionally framed in a lovely navy lacquer frame with UV-protective glass. The overall size when framed is approx 15”x19”.
Free local delivery for addresses around NYC and near Charlottesville, Richmond, and Williamsburg, VA; this is automatically done at checkout. Otherwise, a $20 shipping and handling fee will be applied at checkout.
Merci for choosing to have a piece of my summertime on your walls!
