This particular morning was the last day in Aix for a dear friend, so a few friends went to the beach as one last hurrah: five painters together, all painting the sea. I made a few watercolors and then two oils; this is the second of the watercolors, looking toward town, and pairs quite well with the other small watercolor looking at Cap Canaille (if you happen to be looking for a little complementary duo).

This painting is part of Summer in le Sud (“luh sood”, a French word meaning “the south of France”), a series of paintings and watercolors made en plein air (outside, from life) as an artist-in-residence with the Leo Marchutz School.

Original watercolor on paper with straight edges. This painting comes professionally framed in a lovely navy lacquer frame with UV-protective glass, floating in between two glass panes (no mat). The overall size when framed is approx 11”x15”.
