Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience! 

Some back story on this painting: I arrived the day before and was desperate to get to that glorious water of the Mediterranean again… so I did! This is a favorite hidden beach that I just love and continued painting many, many more times over the course of the summer (usually in oil).

This is an original watercolor on paper, size 11" x 14" unframed.
