La Vesse at sunset, June 29
La Vesse at sunset, June 29
Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience!
Some backstory on this painting: this was the first painting I made this summer in la Vesse, a local beach that one finds only after a 20-minute hike through the garrigue (the scruffy landscape by the Mediterranean), and I returned often despite the hike in the heat. The views are magnifique!
This is an original oil painting on canvas, size 17" x 13”, and framed in a natural wood floating frame.
USPS First Class shipping is included for the continental United States.
