Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience! 

Some backstory on this painting: I adore this beach in Cassis, which I return to over and over. The town of Cassis is in the far distance and the water is the most incredible color. Which Is why I continue painting it!

This is an original oil painting on canvas. It is a diptych, meaning that it is made up of two canvases side-by-side and meant to stay together. The canvases are framed separately, in natural wood floating frames, and are meant to be hung about 1-2” apart; the overall size on the wall when hung this way is approx 21” high x 35” wide.
