Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience! 

Some backstory on this painting: I went for a coffee on a Sunday morning, started painting, and sat in that lovely square for two wonderful hours. If that’s not the essence of southern French summers, I don’t know what is.

This is an original watercolor on paper, size 19" x 15" framed in deep chocolate brown lacquer frame.
