These herons are a favorite of mine to paint. Growing up near the water in Virginia, these birds were a common, if elusive, presence. Though called Great Blue Herons, their colors reach far beyond “just” blue, which I think is perhaps what draws me to them time and again.

This is an original watercolor on paper with a deckled (torn) edge. The painting comes unframed (approx 22”x30”), and professional framing is available (bringing the overall size to approx 28”x36”).
