La Plage du Corton, sunset, July 6
La Plage du Corton, sunset, July 6
Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience!
Some backstory on this painting: I painted this beach at sunset many times in the summer of 2025 and returned this day for the first time this summer. The sunset light, behind me, reflects on the rock of Cap Canaille and turns it the most incredible red for maybe two minutes. Heavenly!
This is an original oil painting on canvas, size 17” × 25”. It is a diptych, meaning that it is two canvases put together to act as one. The two canvases are framed together in one natural wood floating frame.
USPS First Class shipping is included for the continental United States.
