Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience! 

Some backstory on this painting: after dozens of seaside paintings, I was craving some countryside sunsets. This is a field about ten minutes outside of Aix center and I loved the way the sun set between the cypresses; I returned many times to paint from this same spot.

This is an original oil painting on canvas, size 13” × 17”, and framed in a natural wood floating frame.
