Bonjour from Provence! This painting was made during an artist residency in the south of France this summer (2026) with the Leo Marchutz School of Painting and Drawing, my fourth summer painting in the landscape and by the Mediterranean. I painted this from life, "en plein air," as the French say; no photo references, simply looking at the subject while painting it. A challenging, exhilarating experience! 

Some backstory on this painting: my artist friend, Jill Steenhuis, and I have painted the sunset on her hillside the last couple of summers. The sun escaped us a bit but peeked through the clouds as I painted.

This is an original oil painting on canvas, size 13” × 17”, and framed in a natural wood floating frame.
